Normally after a few days in a country I have hundreds of photos, but there are few from Helsinki. Although I didn’t find most of the locations historically or culturally impressive, it was an interesting place nonetheless, and the Ateneum Museum was worth the trip.
Just tried to look around and take in the local vibe and see what it meant to be in Finland. I never read Finnish Folklore or studied the art with continual time constraints, but that is a loss. It would have enriched my understanding of these paintings.

It is almost impossible to express any artistic range and value of art in a travelogue. I could not capture the faces, the brushstokes, the color, but the artists would have wanted you to see first hand anyway.
Yet, I loved the traditional Finnish art. Rushing through countries in a flurry, I had to pause and be quiet. Tried to silently understand the locality and what these works were telling me.

With an eye towards child labor worldwide, this photograph hit home. Hey American corporations, stop trading, if you can even call it that, with countries that employ children.
Please shut up with the green and fair trade bull crap propaganda when you outsource to countries that are totalitarian.

The Finnish climate as you know is quite cold, and in Ateneum moody impending winter, death, even when it involves children, the hardships of life, a view of nature that is stunningly beautiful, but not your friendly comrade, like in the modern Western viewpoint, could be discerned. Yes, Whew!

So I will show you more of what I noticed in my short time, too short, in Ateneum.

But as always, I needed to leave.

Remote, sometimes an aircraft…is? I left the mystery and beauty behind.
