So let’s tie this in with selfies at the Ateneum museum in Helsinki Finland. There were no Andy Warhol artworks, but there was a place to take selfies. Those of you familiar with Warhol’s works are aware of the somewhat iconic images like the ubiquitous Marilyn, and others.
So, while traveling I see people taking constant selfies, self-absorbed, and not looking outward or even inward for that matter. In social media it is one picture after another of a particular person again, again, again, again.
Maybe the Warhol works had a meaning and a purpose as in a message. What are you saying in countless selfies? Your Mom is bored?
Endless selfies send what message and meaning to the world it should comprehend? Is there any life outside of one’s own face? Note the blank frame, the selfie box in the right hand corner. You get the picture?
